Speaker: Bill Forgeard

The ongoing work of Jesus has been unstoppable so far in the Book of Acts. Last week, external opposition and persecution was proved powerless! But in this next episode, will the ongoing work of Jesus be interrupted by the insidious corruption of sin from inside the church? Is sin a barrier to the unstoppable gospel?  This is a passage about the unity and fellowship of the young church. Will the the church withstand the attack of human sin?

It’s been 6 weeks since Lakeshore@Night made the big step and started meeting every Sunday Night. After 6 months of meeting monthly, it’s been exciting to take the step and become a new Lakeshore congregation in our own right.

It’s early days, but a community is beginning to come together! Not quite as quickly as the church we’re hearing about in the book of Acts — there’s about 15 of us most weeks. Some of us arrive early to set up, which takes a while since Lakeshore@Night looks and feels pretty different to church in the morning. Our meeting is taking a regular shape. Singing (an acoustic feel), prayer from up front, a casual interview, read the passage, pause for coffee, and then the bible talk, communion and a couple of songs to finish. We believe Jesus speaks through the Bible, so it’s at the heart of the meeting, and LT’s messages from Acts have been clear and challenging.

If you haven’t come along yet, don’t miss the chance to be part of something that’s just geting going! Lakeshore@Night is church with a young adult feel, for people with no church experience. Join our Facebook group, comments welcome there.

Jesus has gone. The Holy Spirit has come to continue the work of Jesus. What is the work? The preaching of the message of Jesus. We are in a time of amnesty. The last days before Jesus returns is a time to turn to God. Own up to the wrong, stop doing it and you won’t punished. The right response is people turning to him as Lord and Christ.

Today we are told in Acts 2 that there is one who has ultimate authority over us. Jesus who is Lord. We think and behave as if we know better than him and so disobey him. The only way restore our broken relationship with Him is to realise we have done wrong, say sorry and say that we won’t disobey again.
